Reading Notes- Part A- Arabian Nights Unit
I remember way back when, probably in the first
week of this class, when we looked at examples of different types of story
books. I remember specifically one of the story books being over The Arabian
Nights, specifically the story of Scheherazade. I made a mental note to myself
to read those once the time came. However, at the same time, I said that purely
out of leisurely interest. Now that I went back to it, and got the chance to
read through it, I see that it might be able to help me with my current story
book. The stories are told through the eyes of a narrator. Before I started my
storybook, I never experienced the challenge of having to write a story in a
different point of view. In terms of writing essays, we usually write in the
first-person perspective. In the introduction for my storybook, I attempted to
write it through the eyes of another character, and I never expected that it
would be so difficult!! I struggled to hard to put myself in the mindset of another
character. The stories in this unit I think are a really good teaching example
for writing in that style.
