Week 8 Progress
My progress in the class thus far...
Looking back: I will have to be brutally honest here, my organization skills went out the door the first few weeks of the class. I was rushing to finish everything the day it was due (which is not me!!), and I just couldn't seem to catch up and/or work ahead. I under-anticipated (that might be a new one for you guys) the amount of time and effort that I needed to put forth if I wanted everything to be up to my standards. Quite simply, I was over-thinking things, and treating every word I wrote so delicately, instead of just being myself. I finally fell into a groove (I hope) of how to allocate my brain resources for each assignment. I found that I really enjoy re-writing stories for the week, usually from scratch but with motivation from an already existing story. But if I want to do it, I have to dedicate a good amount of time and focus, without background noise, to make it something great.
Looking forward: I did fall behind on my storybook for a hot second, which was really upsetting. I just couldn't get the right words to flow. I had all the great ideas in my head, but never a good opportunity to write them down. And because it is our semester long project, I didn't want to write something down that was half-done and unsatisfactory. It was so frustrating! This past weekend, I went on a little trip to Austin, and I had seven hours in the backseat of a car allll to myself, it was the opportunity I had been waiting for. The words were finally flowing, and I got all caught up. I am vigorously hoping that it doesn't occur again, however. Looking forward, I plan on keeping my tempo with the other assignments fairly the same, but maybe a little more efficient, since I have gotten the hang of things, that way I can allocate more time to my storybook.

So relevant to the work we do in this class!
